Craps Tournaments
If you don’t know a great deal about craps, but want to give the game a try, one of the best ways to learn is by playing in online craps tournaments. Now, you’re likely thinking, why start betting in craps tournaments before I have the faintest idea of what I’m doing? Simple, it’s a fun, competitive and inexpensive way to learn how to play craps.
Although you’re playing against one another, one thing you’ll find in tournament play is that most people are pretty helpful. And with large numbers of players, you can be certain that there will always be at least one person who can answer a beginner’s questions.
While there are many cheap or free craps tournaments, just as many are high stakes, with big money prizes.
Differences in Tournament Play
When playing in craps tournaments, you have to pay attention to how everyone else is doing. To win you have to finish each round with the most chips. If you’ve won $400 and somebody else has $500 then you’re not going to win. That’s simple, right? Not entirely.
Usually tournament rounds end after 100 rolls each, and sometimes if both you and your competition are technically losing you can end up winning the round by losing the least. That’s the big difference in tournament play.
The only advice we can give you is to make sure to keep an eye on the competition throughout the match. Don’t focus on winning loads of chips. Instead, simply focus on winning more chips than your competitors.
Before you play, we also suggest that you familiarize yourself with the casino’s unique rules. For example some casinos don’t allow you to see the other players’ chips (making it much harder to keep track of what everyone has). Or the casino may require you to make a pass or don’t-pass bet on every roll (think of it as craps’ answer to the ante).
In general, rules aside, if you’re a novice we recommend that you start off with some low stakes craps tournaments. Then, once you get the hang of it, increase the stakes accordingly.
