Craps Rules in Tournaments
In a craps tournament the basic craps rules remain the same. However, since you are playing against many other players, as well as the house, there are more details of which you need to be aware.
For starters, make sure to keep an eye on the bets of other players. For example, imagine that you are winning with $300 while the player who is in second has $200. If that person then bets $90 and wins, while you lose even a small bet, the other person may suddenly come out on top. If you don’t want someone to overtake you, try to keep even with them in terms of the bets you place. If they bet a certain amount on a certain number do the same. That way if they win you will too and thus keep your advantage.
On the other hand, if you are in second with $200 and finding it difficult to overtake the leader, you may need to risk more in order to move ahead. Most importantly if you want to overtake someone, you’ll need to bet differently from that player in order to do so.
Examples of Craps Tournament Rules
There are a variety of craps tournaments with different rules. Some of them are as follows:
- Some casinos require that you have your chips in full view while others do not.
- Some casinos force you to place a pass/don’t pass bet alongside your other craps bets.
- In some tournaments there are limits on the bets.
Beyond these basic rule fluctuations, most other rule changes are rather obscure and should be explained to you before the start of the craps tournament. Just make sure that you are aware of all of the tournament’s rules (and understand them) before you start playing. A lot of money is involved and you may miss out if you are unsure of the terms.
Keep in mind, in general, smaller tournaments can be very different from larger ones, especially in terms of bet sizes and limits.
Craps Players in Tournaments
Craps players can be divided into two basic types - aggressive players who tend to bet hard and lose a lot of money, and conservative players who take fewer risks, only placing bets with good odds.
To improve your odds against other players look at how they play and judge their craps strategies accordingly. By studying their game plan you can work their style to your advantage.
