Online Craps and Casino Craps

The four main varieties of craps are casino craps, online craps, street craps and craps tournaments. The first two, casino craps and online craps, are very similar to one another, with only a few minor differences.

The most obvious difference of course is that online craps is played in a virtual world, where none of the traditional craps elements are tangible - the other players, the stickman, the boxman, etc. On the positive side, that means there’s nobody to tip when you win (good etiquette dictates that you should always tip the table staff when playing casino craps). But there is also a little something missing without the comradery of the craps table when you play online.

The Pressure of Land-Based Casino Craps

One of the biggest problems you may encounter when playing in a land-based casino is peer pressure, which can cause you to keep rolling even after you’re happy with what you’ve already won. Nobody wants to look like a coward, but you certainly don’t want to lose money, just to impress other players. While this scenario may sound silly, it actually happens a lot. That’s another major advantage of playing from your home computer - nobody can see what you’re doing and lead you astray. Another big plus is that you don’t need to be fluent in craps lingo when playing online (as there’s no one around to impress with craps chat).

Craps Tournaments

Craps tournaments vary significantly between online and land-based versions. While the rules are mostly the same, and vary no more than they would from one casino to another, the atmosphere of each tournament type is entirely different.

In a land-based casino the competition tends to be fast paced and intense, with fierce and aggressive competition. The online casino on the other hand tends to have a more relaxed atmosphere. Though people still clearly want to win, online players tend to be a much friendlier bunch overall, and more willing to help new craps players.
