Advanced Craps Strategy
Before learning about craps strategies, it’s important that you know how to play craps in the first place. Being aware of the rules of the game as well as the odds that each bets offers, will enable you to understand the logic behind the strategies being offered here, and help you understand why they are being suggested.
In general, anyone can create their own strategy for craps as long as they know the fundamentals of the game and have some common sense.
When you are competing against the casino, always remember the true nature of a casino, i.e. it is not a charity that will give you your money back if you're on a losing streak. Also, always keep in mind that casino games are essentially games of luck – there really is no way to guarantee a win.
That being said there are still many chances for you to win money (if not who'd want to play in the first place)? And how you play can strongly influence your results, especially with a game like craps. The two key components of a successful strategy of craps are money management and the types of bets you place.
Money Management
There are certain things to consider when playing craps (or placing a wager in general). First and foremost is to always be aware of your funds. You need a certain amount of self discipline when it comes to craps, as you can easily end up placing vast amounts of money on the table at any given time. While big betting means potential for huge winnings, it also means you can lose it all in the blink of an eye (or more literally the roll of the dice). That’s why money management is so important when playing a game like craps.
We recommend that you set aside a set amount of money for playing, and once it’s gone, walk away from the table. The same thing is true when it comes to winning. Choose an amount that you’d be happy to win and when you achieve it, walk away.
Either way, you should begin a session of craps with a predetermined amount of money, based on the table’s minimum. If it’s a $5 table then usually $75 to $100 dollars is a reasonable amount. Let’s say you start with $100. If you double your money put the $100 away, and continue solely with the winnings of $100. Then if you double your money again, put another $100 of your winnings away and play off of what you have left, and so on. In this way the majority of the game is played with winnings.
Betting on Craps
Part of a good craps strategy is to avoid betting against a high house edge. Although the payouts are significantly better, your chances of winning are extremely slim, unless you're willing to risk a lot along the way.
If you’re looking for a good craps betting system, forget about your "gut instincts" – no matter what you think, you cannot predict the future. If a table feels hot, however, you should go with it, if only for the good time you're likely to have. Remember though, just because a seven wasn’t rolled the first time, doesn’t mean it won’t appear next roll.
Craps players often get the urge to bet on places other than the pass line and don’t pass line because the other areas offer more excitement. But keep in mind, while it’s true that spontaneity can give you that much sought after craps table adrenaline rush, it can also help empty your pockets faster than you’d prefer.
